Music Leader
Suzi has more recently expanded upon her work within various community settings as a passionate music leader.

After working closely for a number of years with the Wigmore Hall choir for people living with dementia, and seeing first hand the positive impact this had, she was inspired to explore more with music work in this area. She worked as a support musician from the choirs formation in 2017 and accompanied 'Singing with Friends' to perform in a special concert at Buckingham Palace in honour of Princess Alexandra.
In 2019 Suzi moved back to West Yorkshire and began working regularly with the Theatre and Dementia department at the Leeds Playhouse. She runs weekly singing workshops for people living with dementia and their relatives/carers for the Our Time and Peer Support groups. These often focus on themes that run alongside the staged productions that the Playhouse have programmed at the time. Suzi prides herself on ensuring that these sessions are led in a responsive, person-centred way, working in the moment to connect and communicate through singing. Thankfully, the sessions have been able to continue online via Zoom throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, which has ensured the groups can still come together to sing and connect virtually. Suzi is proud to call herself a Creative Associate for the Leeds Playhouse.

Suzi was also at the forefront of developing a community choir at Meanwood Health Centre in North Leeds in September 2019. This was to help fulfil the requirement for social prescribing within the NHS and offer patients within their community the opportunity to improve their health and wellbeing. This saw the group expanding and going from strength to strength before the pandemic unfortunately put a pause on proceedings. This is something Suzi hopes to restart when restrictions allow in order to fully explore the impact this type of community singing can have.
Since 2014, Suzi has had the privilege of being able to call herself a Live Music Now musician. Much of this work has included performing for and working with the care home community, people living with dementia as well as special educational needs settings. Currently, she is working as a musician in residence for the 2021-22 academic year at Kelford School in Rotherham.

In 2019, Suzi also began working as a Community Singing Facilitator for Find Your Voice. This has seen her deliver singing programmes that reach vulnerable people living in marginalised communities.
